gamezone07
Heater matrix leak flooded my pristine car peugeot with coolant and water, been a week now, any ideas on best way to clean up/revive the carpet
SupremeCC
It needs extracting and your carpets deodorising.myself or any professional carpet cleaning business could do it....or for a cheaper option try a car wash/valet bay place.
alchresearch
Cut and paste from the Pugforum: Depends on the car. But I'd whip out the front seats and take out the carpet (pr1vatepiles did it on his 307, there's pictures on here). Give it a good wash then let it dry in the bath. You won't get a 100% clean and dry while its in the car.
geared
Yep needs to be removed and cleaned out of the car. Might also be worth sticking a dehumidifier in the car, all the coolant will have soaked into the underlay/sound deadening material. It's a total sod to get that dry, and you don't want wet carpets sitting in the car permanently.
Obelix
Coolant is half ethelyene glycol, which is a fairly non volatile alcohol. You wont get that out with a dehumidifier. It needs a good wet and dry vac with a suitable detergent at least, or better still removal and washing and dry outside the car.
