Taxi Driver protests against legislation.

SheffTF

Recommended Posts

Deregulation and Uber are not something most Sheffield taxi drivers are happy about as they want things to stay as they were before. :)

Summary:

Taxi drivers pointing out that Uber are bussing incompetent drivers over to London to get licenses to work in Sheffield outside of the local regulation and potentially causing danger to the public. Uber sponsored stooges replying with bla bla bla uber is the future

The end .

Boring and repetitive....

All joking aside SheffTF, with or without Uber on the scene the trade runs the risk of becoming as irrelevant as milkmen or bus conductors. The sector needs reforming to survive.

Civil disobedience of the sort you alluded to in an earlier post is more likely to trigger a debate on immigration than sympathy for the trade.

if you'd been a student a few years ago Puggie, your friends would have relied on this income, they were generally ones that obviously didn't come from money

In deregulated juristictions like Dublin this is already happening. Brands like Uber and Lyft are attracting new blood and fresh enthusiam to the trade.

Over in America a recent survey of over 1,000 Uber & Lyft drivers found that younger drivers (18-30 year olds) were actually earning more per hour compared to their older more experienced counterparts.

Lyft & Uber don't discriminate on age so the rationale behind the findings is that millennials are digital natives and are more likely to grasp the technology.
