stifflersmom
No ones said driving alone causes obesity. It's most definitely a (major) contributing factor. No it isn't. There is correlation but not causation. Diet, income and lifestyle are the major contributory factors.

A good diet is not an expensive diet. Substitute education for income and you may be close.

Socio- economics plays a huge part in disease prevalence across a number of illnesses. Education is a part of that.of course but it isn't the main driver. "Cars burn money and make you fat, Bikes burn fat and save you money" I can't take credit, simply repeating a catchy quote And... I did not say driving alone causes obesity, just that driving clearly contributes- never said it was the only cause, as I'm not so stupid as to think that there aren't many other factors (e.g. and, primarily- diet). Ok now I getcha! so can we agree that driving CAN as opposed to clearly does contribute dependant on lifestyle as there are a lot of slim fit people getting out of cars.. No, cos it sounds too much like 'smoking CAN cause cancer'- it's a true statement, but it's also the kind of tepid apologist rhetoric beloved by those manipulistic tobacco industry bought scientists who ensured that decades passed while millions of the public died as they delayed proper public health measures by lobbying and manipulated 'scientific' studies. Why don't we agree on the aforementioned 'driving alone doesn't cause obesity, it's just one of the factors', which has the advantage of being true without the added apologist tint? Runningman
Hey up Mods, how come this like many other threads as descended into chaos ? All gone a little off subject to me !
Katie Event
I've never understood why people object to threads going "off topic" It would be weird if conversations stayed on one topic all the time. Meeting up with friends would be strange ... "I'm sorry we can't talk about what happened in the football, as out topic for this coffee is 'Christine from accounts'"
onewheeldave
A little strange too, that the poster complaining that it's gone off-topic has no other posts in the thread
