The Consequences of Brexit (part 3)

Recommended Posts

A good post.

The first step might be suggest enlargement of the UK. Invite membership applications from:

Channel Islands

Isle of Man

Falklands

Gibraltar

and all other UK-associated overseas territories of which HM is the Head of State.

Tax havens!! Most of them anyway.

We still trade with the Commonwealth ok it's not a lot now but new trade deals could be done also Crown dependents may have things to trade with.

And how much do we send and receive from China? Billions and billions.

We sent £6.35bn in goods and £2.24bn in services in 2014 to India. And i understand its a pain getting stuff in, its certainly a pain getting stuff out. Not like that in the EU you can send something to or from somewhere like Warsaw as easily as Wallsal.

Not for much longer though obviously.

'Germanic Union' - grow up. you do know where Angles and Saxons came from right? In the end we are all human, your fixation with Germany is pathetic.

Second point - yeah of course the world has changed, that is why the EU has been negotiating trade deals with other nations for decades. More often than not these were scuttled because the UK didn't like it, or indeed because the people of the EU didn't like it. The EU Is swinging away from TTIP in a hurry, the UK is accelerating towards it.

You guess who is going to gain from an agreement where US corporations can take the British government to court to force through legislation in their favour?

Could you provide evidence that it has been the UK which has been the main obstacle to the EU signing trade deals?

I wonder what we can spend it on?

The NHS, the Police, education, the military? Probably all 4 I expect, it'll go a long way that £350 mil.

The best way to stop that would be for them to become part of the UK, surely.

You seem to think they won't have a say in the matter.

This is a problem some of the more evangelical Brexiters have. The UK won't get to dictate the terms of any deals struck - they will have to be negotiated and agreed by all the parties involved. Whether that be with the EU, the Commonwealth countries, crown dependants or anyone else.

That said, I can see some of the crown dependencies signing up to be part of the UK. The residents of the low lying Pacific islands that are at risk of rising sea levels would probably jump at the chance to become UK citizens and have an automatic right to move here when their current homes become uninhabitable. Or where you envisaging denying the right of UK citizens to live here?

On the BBC News today we had a Polish weatherman, who thinks the 1st June is the first day of winter. It makes me wonder just how stupid these Europeans are and what mistakes they are doing in jobs, which British people should be doing. There are plenty of British weather people who can do the job properly. We don't need a Polish fool stealing the job of a British weather person, who knows when it is summer. I have no objection to European fruit pickers doing seasonal work, but after BREXIT only British people should be allowed to do jobs such as weather people. It's time we started looking after British people and nearly time to send the European clowns home.
