Gayham
I think you should all be grateful you have a choice, imagine if you lived in Burnley or Wigan or somewhere equally as backward.
nick2
The Sheffield "scene" has always been cut throat (or at least it has for the last 20 years that I've known it), the customer base is limited and just can't support many bars/clubs, you have to make sure you get as many customers as possible and if that means destroying the competition then thats how it has to be. In Manchester there are enough customers to go round so clubs/bars don't have to be so competative and can even (shock, horror) co-operate with each other. Plethora
I wonder how Manchester started way back in the nineties then? Probably the same way as here, a bunch of pessimistic old queens sat behind their PC's bitching at each other.

You seriously can't believe that in the countrys fourth largest city there aren't enough gay people to go around three main venues??? Not even including surrounding areas???? doncaster, chesterfield, rotherham, barnsley to name a few?!? Total And Utter Tripe if you ask me!!! In the last 20 years there has never been more than one big (the size of Fuel or Planet) permanent gay club in Sheffield. If it's not lack of customers then what is the reason ? Probably too many of the above!!! too busy bitching about venues to actually go out and have any fun in them!!
markpark
fuel wins hands down -for a start its not stuck 20 years in the past and is continually improving and indeed listerning to what customers want !!!! AND its in the here and now in terms of decor ,music and entertainment ,what other gay venue puts on so much entertainment with LIVE PA'S quality dj's and LIVE MUSICIANS plus its the nearest (and best thing) to the modern and vibrant leeds or manchester gay scenes !! Plethora
Here Here! Markpark! I think fuel has done an amazing job here in Sheffield. However I love Climax too. I think it's great to have a choice, it's about bleedin time! Both are so different, so back to the original post....I don't prefer one over the other because they don't compare and it's wrong to do so...but then this has caused so much debate so it's all interesting I suppose! BoroughGal
I love Fuel too, but I think one of the reasons that permanent clubs don't stay is the lack of choice - surely everyone is going to get sick of going to the same place week in, week out. As mentioned in my previous post, we have 3 clubs...... Xes -- Dempseys --- Fuel, I got bored with Fuel (yes it did happen) so I started to go to Xes, which i enjoy, and now its time to go back to Fuel, having the choice, which we have, is really good............ posted by Plethora Here Here! Yes Fuel have done an amazing job in such a short time, but Climax people will probably not acknowledge this, cause they wanted Climax to be Sheffield`s No 1 gay venue, and it no longer is..... which is a shame, but bitchin and hatred will continue, I notice the original poster hasn`t once replied :suspect: Fuel and Climax are 2 completely different venues, one is once a month and the other is a fulltime nightclub, how on earth can you compare the two I wonder how this thread wil continue after the 26th when Fuel (who have spent money on the place) open thie 2nd dancefloor, time will tell
