whitelion Posted April 18, 2017 Share Posted April 18, 2017 Tuesday 18th April: The Lowdown Acoustic Session Hosted by Rob Lowdon, of Treebeard, Jabberwocky and a performer in his own right, this gently evening of acoustic music is open to all to listen, watch or join in. Each month's session also features a guest artist, this month's is talented folk musician Patrick Rose 8.30pm, free entry. Wednesday 19th April: Quiz Night The highly irreverent Quiz is every Wednesday at The White. Hosted by the inimitable Mr Bling, you and your team must overcome 3 rounds of general knowledge, an audio round and a picture round in order to claim the prize. Throw into the mix some random challenges, spot prizes, lashings of real ale and a completely free buffet with veggie, vegan and gluten-free options and you're onto a winner. 9pm, 50p entry Thursday 20th April: Jam Night Hosted by Sheffield legend Chris Firminger and backed by his regular house band The TwoJays, this evening provides a platform for musicians from all over Sheffield and further afield. Renowned for the musicians it attracts, the Thursday Jam sees regular attendance and performance from the likes of Julian Jones, The Carnival, Open Jaw Fayre, The Crashers, Grave Danger, Fahrenheit, Vamp and many more. Full backline and P.A. provided, come watch or join in. 8.30pm, free entry Friday 21st April: Dosch Dosch supply their own brand of "high energy" British R&B, and have played alongside such legends as Dr. Feelgood, Mick Pini, The Wilko Johnson Band & Dumpy's Rusty Nuts. R.J.Greaves of Blues in Britain Magazine rated their album Money to Burn, 9/10, and recommended, "a great act to catch live." Dosch have appeared at the Blues Festivals in Burnley and Nantwich, plus The Great British Rhythm & Blues Festival in Colne, U.K. 9.30pm, free entry Saturday 22nd April: Vamp Vamp formed in 2003 They are a South Yorkshire based band that gig all over the North of England. They play a mix of 'Good Time' Classic Rock songs along with a few of their own mixed in. The band are a 'Digital Free Zone', playing Vintage Guitars through old Valve Amps. Classic rock at it's very best. 9.30pm, free entry. Sunday 23rd April: George's Jam - Special Event April 23rd is St George's Day. It's fitting then that we'll be using the day as an opportunity to help raise funds for George Parson's Memorial Bench. How are we doing this? It's our Sunday Jam session - always packed with great musicians - but this time it'll be a little different. Not only will we be starting that little bit earlier but we'll also be having all manner of fundraising activities on the day. If the weather's nice then we'll even chuck in a BBQ! What can you do to help? Support the event Spread the word and invite people Come play if you're a musician and let another musicians know Be generous if you can spare a little There's not much more money needed to make this bench a reality so let's smash it on the 23rd - go, go, go!
