tinfoilhat
So what happens if you have no assets? You get it paid for, to point. They'll have your pension and any benefits you receive. And they will only pay so much so think travelodge rather boutique hotel.

tinfoilhat
That's fair enough. Well it is and isn't. They could be sat in the said same home as someone who might have to have sold their house first. No easy answers here!
Staunton
Its not privatisation, its a very large number of old people who, 30 odd years ago would have shuffled off. Now we can keep people alive longer and they need to be cared for. Wheres the money coming from? There you have it! Ordinary people are living too long! What our elderly should do is check into the Ritz - now, who was it did that?

spilldig
Everyone gets an element for free. Some have thier property took from them, some don't.
willman
Some have thier property took from them, some don't. That's a personal issue not a society issue. If you choose to buy property to secure your future then when you are into your "future" you need to spend it. If you have other means to pay for it or to avoid paying for it then those are the breaks.
