Its the labour party for me.

Recommended Posts

At the moment it's Brexit for me, I think the tories have a better chance of a deal I agree with than Labour.

I will worry about domestic matters in 5 years time as all these will be affected by the Brexit deal.

Despite the views of Corbyn there is a chance that if they had a coherent Brexit strategy which included ending free movement with a meaningful result, that I could vote Labour BUT as mentioned by other posters I could never vote for them whilst Abbott is in the party. I detest the woman, she is the most racist hypocrite in politics.

A Tory Brexit will be all about sucking up to big business and placating them. It will end up no better than it is now. I don't think Mrs May is a particularly strong negotiator in spite of her rhetoric. I think she gets their backs up.

As for Diane Abbott, I think she will be gone before long. Probably kicked upstairs to somewhere where she can do no harm.

I don't understand why the majority of ordinary people would vote Tory. A definite case of Turkeys voting for Christmas surely?

Because you're blinkered and ignorant with a narrow point of view? You tend to have one view and stick to it, despite being offered lots of other views and articles to oppose any argument on this forum you may have.

You might think Corbyn is the bees knees but plenty don't, including his own MPs. And you call them "Blairites". Total ignorance.

Have a read at this, why people voted Tory in 2015:

I think a lot of people vote Tory when they on paper would seem to suffer under them because of 3 things.

Firstly, people want secure jobs and it's argued (perhaps correctly) that the Tories offer a more stable business platform therefore jobs would be more secure. This is a vote based on fear.

Secondly, they vote for Tories because they believe that one day their luck will come in and they will be the ones with noses at the trough and therefore the trough needs to be maintained so they get their go at it. This is a vote based on false hope.

Thirdly, they vote Tory because they are happier when someone else has less than them rather than being happier if we all have more. This is a vote based on jealousy.

Just read that article and I have to agree especially not trusting labour to f up the economy. I remember them in the 70s when I first started work and it was horrible. Socialist tax and spend which is why I do not wish to go back to it. Also we have always had a labour MP round here and this area gets f all whilst other areas of the city get new parks etc so my philosophy is a Tory MP cannot do any worse, someone in here has a tag line very similar, we started off with nothing and we have most of it left.

Quick question...how do we ALL have more? Would it bother you if those that have a lot now get even more?

Likely a lot for a while...until big business, from which many small businesses depend, starts riding them harder, with pricing pressure and procedurally-complex extended payment terms to 180 days, to restore profitability to pre-loophole closure levels.

Not a pro-big business comment, just saying it as it is (and likely would be) from the small business coalface ;)

Diane Abbott is to Labour, what Boris Johnson is to the Conservatives: the Court's jester.

Labour's working team, with Keir Stammer & Co., looks far better on paper than the Tories' (Fox, Davis, Johnson <...>).

Excellent points re: the small business l00b. Ours would likely move or try to get more public sector work (we get a fair chunk already) which would no doubt enjoy a fresh injection of funding. On a wider level though, that's not the way to base an economy.

But Stammer looks a good pick, way better than the Tory equivalents.

By making mathematically impossible statements Truman! :) I was meaning all of the 'people who voted Tory who aren't rich...' which is very woolly. :suspect:

Yes it would bother me because I struggle to understand how someone can have billions of pounds while their are people who don't even have access to clean water. I just don't get it and never will. I am not poor but I give away 50% of any pay rise I now get because I'm not poor, I support higher taxes on people like myself and I don't even have an ISA so I pay full tax on my interest because I believe that's fair. That's just me. I do accept other people do not think like that and see money as a badge of 'worth' rather than a thing that buys stuff.

You can all have more by having a successful economy, which increases tax revenues, which can allow for increased public spending. Thats why lots of spending commitments are actually based on economic growth.
