I1L2T3
Hunt has to take the responsibility. The buck stops with him. Systems are clearly underinvested. Notice what happened to the chairman of BT this week. Two major failures that he had nothing directly to do with resulted in his pay award being reduced from £5.3m to £1.3m
dangerousedd
sadly it encrypts your files in the background, then sends the keys to the attacker before deleting some of its own malware files before popping up the message telling you to pay the ransom. this youtube video explains it :-
Mikes10
Does anybody know how the ransom malware encrypts files? Is it done by an external source or does it use windows built in encryption service? This is a pretty good explanation on how RansomWare encrypts your computer: https://www.carbonblack.com/2017/05/12/how-does-ransomware-work/

You can't say that. For 7 of the 8 years the OS has been retired, the Tories have been in power. It's their baby this one.

cgksheff
You can take politics out of the equation. Each NHS trust pays directors, including IT Directors a small fortune. They have to acknowledge their incompetence. Regardless of this sudden expanse of ransomware, it can only infect through negligence.
