Would you believe it? Another roundabout where arrows point straight on in the left lane but the white lines make you go left. Surely not two painting errors within a quarter of a mile of each other?

Oh my giddy aunt. Same roundabout different approach. This roundabout should be a deathtrap.

Or maybe you can cross white lines if instructed to do so on the approach. Just a thought.

On the same roundabout j34 south from bawtry road the lane iscorrectly signed left turn. The middle lane then becomes the first lane before the motorway bridge. The Sheffield road from Meadowhall is incorrectly signed left or straight on in the left lane. The left lane on the roundabout goes to j34n. The middle lane for some reason splits in two for Sheffield road to Rotherham and bawtry causing confusion and lane changing entering and exiting the underpass. Not an intuitive junction

did you read the above post by any chance

Um, it really is a simple case of not checking in your mirrors, regardless of markings in the road. Since when did stupid road layouts mean that you can stop using common sense and your eyes. White car drives into black car - simple.

Another highways cockup, causing unnecessary confusion to motorists who don't use their mirrors.

People arriving from the M1 or Shepcote Lane in the middle lane can go towards Rotherham or Bawtry. That is why the lane splits just before going under the M1.

People arriving from Meadowhall, however, have already committed to Rotherham (left lane on the approach to the roundabout) OR Bawtry (centre lane). They no longer have a choice. In this situation, the black car has already committed to Bawtry Road (or M1S) by being in the centre lane on approach. If he now changes his mind and wants to go somewhere else, it is his responsibility to ensure it is safe to manoeuvre into another lane.

From Shepcote lane you should be in the right lane to turn towards Bawtry or rotherham, the centre lane is for under the viaduct and the left lane for the immediate left turn to Meadowhall. The only junction on the roundabout that is left OR straight on is from under the viaduct to rotherham or bawtry.

Black car attempted to go left where he shouldn't and drove into the white car which was continuing ahead as it should.

The Black car followed the lane markings as it is supposed to. The white car changed lanes and caused the accident. It's that simple. It doesnt matter what the sign 100m+ behind the car said, you follow the road as it is presented to you, not how you think it should be.

you get in your correct lane after the shepcote lane lights where there are four lanes.

The middle lane is for M1N or Rotherham
