TheNugget
If you look on google maps satellite view, there is an out of date photo of the junction which show the left lane marked as for left turn only. Middle for straight on. That would be much clearer and seem to match the lanes on the actual roundabout!

TheNugget
look at these Google road markings:- https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@53.4133649,-1.403555,77m/data=!3m1!1e3 left lane turns left right lane turns right and centre lane goes ahead or right. Surely that puts them both in the wrong But that photo is either out of date, or more up to date than on the video. The video shows the left lane clearly marked as straight on. Michael_N
Seri oALt cant believe how many thick people there actually are out there and now I know why there is so many accidents! The white car is the innocent party here and yet quite a few think he is in the wrong. The white car follows the roundabout lane markings correct and that lane is for left and ahead. Why is so hard to understand??? ---------- Post added 18-05-2017 at 08:18 ---------- The reason the road markings were changed was to try and alleviate some pressure on the local road network. By having the M1S, A6178 and A631 all queuing in the middle lane would back Traffic up even further along Sheffield Road. This has helped massively and 95% of people have got used to the new layout that has been in place for over a year. The black audi was doing himself no favours by chancing it and cutting across a lane. Shouldv'e used his mirrors and he is 100% at fault in this accident. ---------- Post added 18-05-2017 at 08:21 ---------- The white car did ignore the road markings - he crossed the dividing line on the lanes. Are you being serious? The lane markings on the approach to the roundabout clearly state left lane for left and ahead only. The way the lines are painted on the roundabout is for the Traffic on the roundabout coming around to "throw" Traffic off towards the Viaduct and then cut in for Rotherham from the Shepcote Lane turn. There is nothing wrong with the roundabout - just nineties who use it incorrectly even when clearly signposted!!
Fogey
The Black car is at fault, the driver hasn't followed the lane markings that match the lane he/she entered when approaching the junction. - Assuming that street view is up to date.
Berberis
the black car "looked" like it was about to turn left. but at the time of impact it was still in its own lane. the white car though had crossed into another lane and caused the impact car at fault. White car. certainly the white car. Black car may be indicating but it had not changed lanes.
Michael_N
certainly the white car. Black car may be indicating but it had not changed lanes. I suggest you stay away from roundabouts then. Black car actually cuts into the white cars lane. Take a look at Streetview or drive the roundabout yourself and you will see this clearly... Middle lane doesn't move into the left lane as the black car attempts to do!
