*_ash_*
unknowledgeableThe first thing I read was this line: Grace Marner says political quizzes are a simpler way to understand politics Good god. We're doomed I'll give the first one a go (Isidewith) edit: it seems odd to give you the option to answer more than the minimum. I'll do the lot if it doesn't take more than 5 mins - edit again: How ridiculous, look at this one: Should laptops be banned on all direct flights departing from the Middle East? Learn more Discuss Stats News Yes No Yes, and ban all flights departing from high-risk airports Yes, and ban all electronics on direct flights departing from high-risk airports No, this discriminates against Muslims Add your own stance If this is how people not interested/unknowledgeable about politics want to work out their political stance, then we're all finished. Robin-H
The problem I have with these websites is that it doesn't go into the consequences of particular policies. A question might ask you to make a judgement on a policy that sounds wonderful in principle, but the consequences of that policy might be disastrous. Unless you have a full understanding of the policy and its consequences its hard really to make a fully informed decision.
*_ash_*
I gave up half way through. This one is garbage and reminded me of SCC type questionnaires. Vague, often loaded, and ridiculous black and white options to click on. The top half of it I got: Isidewith Liberal Democrat54% Labour51% UKIP42% Green42%Green Conservative39% Second one, GE2017.com since I'm bored (and ill) - this is dreadful this one. 63% Con 48% Lab 65% Lib 65% Ukip 44% Green Third one: Equally as bad as other two... Your result: Liberal Democrat/Conservative ---------- Post added 30-05-2017 at 19:01 ---------- The problem I have with these websites is that it doesn't go into the consequences of particular policies. Or any kind of details for that matter! A question might ask you to make a judgement on a policy that sounds wonderful in principle, but the consequences of that policy might be disastrous. Unless you have a full understanding of the policy and its consequences its hard really to make a fully informed decision. Precisely. This type of thing targets younger people who prefer twitter/social media type things rather than any kind of thought or dialogue. I'm surprised the BBC would promote such dreadfully written questionnaires. - I think a better strategy is mandatory SimCity 3000 lessons for all school children! Ash, I think they are useful for people who maybe don't follow politics very much so perhaps don't know what each party propose. For people who know quite a bit about what has been proposed already there doesn't seem much point in answering a questionnaire as surely we can make up our own minds? I also had issue that you can write your own stance and how this skews things. I came out on one of those quizzes with UKIP as my third match and looking through the rationale, it was because I'd answered negatively to open immigration but then written in a stance to explain it and somehow this added massive weight to me being anti-immigration and therefore must love UKIP... Thankfully most of them seem to have an option to filter by parties for your country otherwise I come out fairly staunchly SNP!
