Are the Tories trying to lose the election?

Recommended Posts

Banjodeano I have voted labour in the past and may well do so in the future what I am saying at the moment and think a lot of ordinary people think is as follows

1. I believe May will get a better deal because Corbyn has said he will get a deal come what may, bad negotiating start position where as May says she will walk. May has a good team, Corbyn has the dregs because his statesmen resigned or refused positions.Brexit will define us for years to come.

2. The labour manifesto is more like something the socialist workers party would come up with rather than labour.

3. Corbyn past flirtations with terrorist groups does not sit well with people who have been in the military and served against these groups.

4. Whilstever the racist hypocrite Abbott has a position of power I could never vote Labour.

5. I believe that we should start to pay down the debt and not just keep borrowing, which even you admit Labour must do to fulfill its promises. Why should my as yet unborn grandchildren pay for what our generation has spent.

May has done some stupid things as has labour but until after Brexit and change within labour then I will back May.

'Walking' is a bad deal. The worst possible one.

May "saying she will walk" contributes nothing to a 'good' negotiating position, it just gets the other sides' backs up, and gets them to consider the UK setting itself up as a Singapore -bis off the EU shores, and to adapt their negotiation playbook and red lines in keeping with that.

I don't think I need to explain to you what would happen to low and semi skilled workers (never mind the vast swathes of people heavily dependent on social care) in a 'Singaporified' UK? 'work or starve', in a nutshell.

Just saying in passing.

No need of any bowing mate, I'm just happy to inform :) Edited by L00b

I think these two Tory would be MPs are desperately trying to lose the election:

Firstly, The would be Conservative MP in Jo Cox's former constituency of Batley and Spen put her foot in her mouth with a pretty tasteless comment:

http://metro.co.uk/2017/05/29/tory-candidate-for-jo-coxs-seat-jokes-we-have-not-yet-shot-anybody-6670286/

Then today Mark Pritchard Tory MP walks out of hustings after sparking furious row about foodbank users smoking and owning '58 inch TVs'

http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/politics/tory-mp-walks-out-hustings-10546660

And he had the nerve to say one claimant was "weight challenged" and "didn't need the food". Hmm

How do you feel about voting Tory when their Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson commented about:

"Picanninies with water melon smiles," and "black people having lower IQs"

Corbyn will get a good deal because he's a good negotiator, wants the best for Britain and is prepared to stick at it. If May walks away I get the impression the EU will say ...so what?

As for his team, he has Sir Kier Starmer and Emily Thornbury - both pretty determined, formidable characters, and statesmanlike.

the Labour manifesto and Corbyn's plans are actually not far left at all, in fact they are no more left than Germany or Sweden. It's just that after years of Blair's Labour being 'Tory lite,' a return to Labour's original values is being portrayed in the media as 'far left.'

A vote for May is a vote for doing over the poor to profit the rich, for selling bombs to Saudis to murder Yemenis with and for shafting the NHS. Just immoral, plain and simple.

Re point 3, of course Corbyn has spoken to terrorists - he's a peacemaker, it's part of the job. You'd need to be pretty stupid not to get that. Did you know there's a Conservative councillor who was an active member of the IRA?

If May walks out we will be the ones losing out the EU has 27 counties they can trade with each other they don't need the UK. We have already seen some banks moving their offices aboard also some manufacturers have moved some of their production aboard simply down to fact if they trade with the EU it's better to move production to a member state. The hard Brexit approach will not work we need to remain in the single market because banks need access to it the custom union it's important for industry.

May's idea of going in guns blazing is foolish if she thinks Trump coming to her aide with trade deals think again Trump is a man one minute it's yes the next it's no. We need a person who is going to deliver a soft Brexit even with this we will lose some industry and banking a deal needs to be middle ground. My concern with May is for all her gusto she will struggle this general election has shown her weak points no one at the negotiating table will be their too hold her hand and tell her what to say. I recently read online about G7 counties economies the UK is at the bottom this is very worrying we need someone who is going to work with the EU not o it's not going my way where's the door?

At the end of this month we will know better how the G7 are performing as that's when new official figures are released, and ATM the UK are near the middle. Even after the referendum we were at 2nd place despite predictions.

Batley and spen was never going to happen, wrong demographics, they stand as a matter of course like labour do in real pro Tory areas. She said a stupid thing and obviously you or I have never said an inappropriate comment.

When I was an outreach worker I used to get referrals for my unemployed clients struggling to make ends meet, using food banks etc. I would visit their home and wonder how these people had better TVs game consoles etc than me yet pleaded poverty and 95 per cent of them smoked. So from personal experience I can relate to Mark Pritchard.

Boris may have said these things and I will leave him to defend himself just like I will leave the Labour Party to justify its anti semmitism.

Corbyn is a good negotiator because he has negotiated what. May has at least negotiated with the EU when she was Home Secretary.

Halibut I refer you to my earlier comment about the poor, they may genuinely be some really desperate ones but those that I met had the best of everything and smoked/drank whilst pleading poverty.

You will never solve the Arab wars, they cannot even get on with each other and they are the same religion. And of course we never sold any weapons to the Saudis under labour did we??.

Did not know about the conservative councillor but he is not likely to be PM and dictate govt policy. Corbyn leaves a bad taste in the mouths of military that served against these groups. He has dubious views on Gib and the falklands where even the populations want to stay British.

The EU will demand free movement for access to the market, May knows that is the one thing she cannot concede so she will walk, just my opinion.

Still cannot vote for Labour, could possibly for Corbyn but not whilst he has Abbott and co in positions of power. I think May will win and then possibly a new party will emerge that I can vote for.

Just read about the garden tax from labour hidden in the small print. Apparently will replace rates and be an increase of 224% on rates, something to look forward to.
