JNewton69
Yeah pretty much. I do have an ironing lady though, so I really am a champagne socialist! Don't tell em that, they'll hold it against you. You nasty hypocritical lefty.
sgtkate
Don't tell em that, they'll hold it against you. You nasty hypocritical lefty. Guilty as charged, sadly. Too late for me to cut myself off from capitalism, all I can do is bring my daughter up in a way that shows her there are other ways of life than hoarding cash...hope it gives her the freedom of choice that perhaps most of us have not had. I try to be open and honest on here as pretending you are the messiah tends to backfire. I believe in fairness, I believe that given a switch of circumstances any of us could be that homeless guy you've just ignored or a millionaire with a yacht, therefore don't pee on people below and do not think the people above you got there through 'favours' either. Judge everyone on merit, pretty basic.

It's a pity you haven't the capital to send her to a private school, they churn out some wonderful individuals.

Oh I do have the capital to do just that but I have other plans that involve extensive travel and aid work while shes growing up. More in this world than can be learned in school and empathy and understanding of others is one of them.

sgtkate
I wish you the best sgtkate. I think I'll need it to be honest. Trying to bring a non-capitalistic kid up is going to be blooming challenge. Fingers crossed eh? So, back on topic, practically and without totally shafting people who bought houses legitimately and without intending to speculate and rip people off, how do we fix not only the current housing problem in Kensington, but UK wide? I1L2T3
If you're skint and you complain it's the politics of envy. If you've got a few quid and you complain you're a champagne Socialist. So very true.

Well she's lucky to have such an interesting Mum. Re: Homes. Excellent, permanent, prefabricated homes can be put up in a week. I can't understand why they are not more widely used. Plenty of brown field sites available that can be made really nice, although it takes longer for grass and trees to grow of course.
Penistone999
That's the answer. I never understood why Governments were expecting house builders to shoot themselves in the foot by allowing supply to exceed demand. The only way to make that happen is state intervention. We seem happy enough to do it to prop up house prices, it is time to do it to provide decent homes instead. The end result of that will be house builders stop building . It is not the fault of builders if someone cannot afford to buy a house.

I've noticed, in the past, that you struggle to understand opposing viewpoints, however even you must understand that it is partly the fault of house builders. They deliberately ensure that demand exceeds supply and that keeps prices high. That stops many people from being able to afford them. It is time for state house building and for the banning of foreign nationals from buying homes to keep them empty.
