phil752
Well she's lucky to have such an interesting Mum. Re: Homes. Excellent, permanent, prefabricated homes can be put up in a week. I can't understand why they are not more widely used. Plenty of brown field sites available that can be made really nice, although it takes longer for grass and trees to grow of course. There is also alot of Crown properties in this area, that could be used.
I1L2T3
The end result of that will be house builders stop building . It is not the fault of builders if someone cannot afford to buy a house. And put themselves out of business? Really? Think about it. ---------- Post added 18-06-2017 at 20:29 ---------- There is also alot of Crown properties in this area, that could be used. Let's not forget that under Boris Johnson there were numerous CPOs of properties in social housing areas. Tenants who refused to leave had their doors smashed in by bailiffs supported by the police. So it seems it's ok to turf out people from social housing schemes but at a time of national crisis, not use an empty property that is never going to lived in Edited June 18, 2017 by I1L2T3
phil752
I've noticed, in the past, that you struggle to understand opposing viewpoints, however even you must understand that it is partly the fault of house builders. They deliberately ensure that demand exceeds supply and that keeps prices high. That stops many people from being able to afford them. It is time for state house building and for the banning of foreign nationals from buying homes to keep them empty. This has got to stop. Agreeing with each other. Bob Arctor
If Tory-lite bumbling ******* Ed Milliband hadn't made most of his party vote with the Tory/Lib Dem coalition to criminalise squatting, people could have opened up plenty of empty homes for the survivors of Grenfell Tower to live in, since there is no intended occupier in Buy to Leave flats. It would have also saved the state the expense of putting people up in hotels.
hackey lad
just a thought on this. if Teresa May had said she would requisition these empty properties , would she be lauded for her actions or would she be attacked for being a nasty tory ?

carosio
Requisition does not necessarily mean to take ownership, but to make use of for a period of time. There are possibly 3/4/5 bed council and private houses with only one person living in them (the survivors might not want to live in another flat) so perhaps they might be considered? dangerousedd
does that include their personal property in the requisitioned houses too or will you be nice and give them half an hour to move out?
I1L2T3
does that include their personal property in the requisitioned houses too or will you be nice and give them half an hour to move out? There's almost 1,400 empty properties in the borough. Nobody has to move out.
