The Consequences of Brexit [part 4]

Recommended Posts

The reason that the EU banned US chlorinated chicken is that they believe that it is used to coverup the disgusting practice of mass factory production where the conditions would never pass EU inspection.

An equally worrying aspect of US food production is the use of growth steroids in the mass production factory farming of beef and pork.

There is a link between the use of growth steroids in food production and the obesity problem in America.

Still, beggars can't be choosers can they?

As EU members we were equal partners with an input into EU legislation and a veto when required.

We will enjoy no such equivalence in our relationship with the US.

There was a time when we had some value to them as their ' inside man' in the EU and our military support.

Having now decided to leave the EU and following the debacle of Basra we have reduced our influence to next to nothing.

Not to put too fine a point on it, we're going to be America's bitch.

I remember back in the 80's helping to put a chlorination plant in Northern Foods, now Pennine Foods, they made sandwiches and other products for some of the big stores, didn't hear anybody squealing like the remoaners are doing back then.

And if you had taken the trouble to actually read my post you would have understood that the reason for the EU banning chlorination was because they believed it was being used to cover up lax health standards in producing the meat.

Instead of ensuring a disease free environment for the birds the companies were raising them in unacceptable conditions which encourage diseases such as salmonella and then using the chlorination washing to decontaminate effected birds.

It;'s all about mass production and profit.

If you are unconcerned about animal treatment, and whether or not what's on your plate was infected with a disease prior to it's chlorinated cleaning then Bon Appetit.

The use of steroids encouraging growth in beef and pork production is another matter.

America is the most obese major industrialised country in the world.

A few years of eating cheap imported steroid injected meat should close the gap and maybe we can overtake them as they don't have our capacity for booze!

They still are here, have you noticed they cut the bottom part of the legs off now so that you don't notice the hock burn.

In which case these people aren't doing their job, and we are being lied to by local authorities.

There is also the not inconsequential and costly matter of replicating this service in the non EU future.
