The Consequences of Brexit [part 4]

but when in a minority, why do you believe the majority are deluded, strange indeed.

Hmm..... the minority are degree educated. The same minority generally earn more than the average and therefore contribute more to the running of the country by the larger proportion of tax receipts we give to the treasury. In my example, I pay more in tax than the average wage which I think is ridiculous, but that is an another conversation entirely. This minority is just better informed and know how to make a reasoned argument and opinion far better than the majority.

I know the truth can hurt, but you should know where you stand.

We’re the same in our household. The amount of tax and NI we pay would sustain an entire other family - it’s more than the benefits cap.

But these people not only want to screw middle earners over and drag us to their level, they want us to keep paying for them too. Slight problem there.....

There's nothing wrong with that, in a redistributive society.

But. No freebies no more, in the post-referendum age

Yes, they've bit the hand. But they're not aware of that (it's the whole crux of this thick/not thick mini-debate).

Don't succumb to the usual divide-and-conquer Tory game. Rise above it. And don't get mad: get even ;)

Perhaps only graduates should vote then.

"These people"? Say "these poor people/serfs" and go the whole hog.

You're in danger of losing the argument here.

It’s not a line I intend to vigorously pursue because I know most Brexiters don’t think that way. Just putting it out there for the likes of car boot. Just a reminder of where a big chunk of the tax income comes from. Nothing wrong with that because rational argument hasn’t worked so far has it.

Well we hear this argument from right wingers: why should I pay for other people’s children; Don’t breed if you can’t pay for the kids; Why should they pay for education they don’t use etc... etc...

Just A reminder for some of them: remember who is supporting your life on benefits and tax credits.

There’s actually a very serious point: hollow out the middle earners and the government will be in trouble. Exactly the same argument these (sometimes poor) right wingers use for protecting the rich.

Don’t break things too much Brexiters. You will regret it sooner or later.

that’s right

The working-class tories support the very wealthy tax-dodgers, because the S*n and other right-wing media tells them too.

But if the middle-class leaves, who is gonna subsidise the welfare queens ?

Considering that the average UK salary in 2017 is about £27,000 and you claim to pay more than this in tax...

Your annual income must be around £96,000 - give or take.

It's certainly true that the wealthy have done extremely well out of EU membership. This greedy, selfish class of extremely priviledged EU supporters have little concern how the Brussels capitalist club has made life increasingly harder for those at the bottom. All they really care about is their bank balance.

They have had all the advantages in life, and despise the less fortunate (especially those poor illiterates who had the audacity to vote against EU membership in the referendum).

A sane, civilised society would tax these creatures to the maximum, with punitive rates to benefit the public sector. Those that attempt to move to countries with lower or no income taxation should be prevented from taking their capital/assets out of the UK and have everything they own seized by the state for the benefit of all, not just the few.

That’s just the politics of hate and envy. And insanity. You want to destroy people who have been successful. If you used the same language about the Rich you’d be labelled a socialist.

The £96k figure is actually not far off for our household income, but neither me or the missus have had any kind of advantage. My family was poor, and my wife’s background is modest. We’ve done well, and now you want to destroy us. Because you’re a failure? You’d better explain ;)

<still more guff, somewhat more amusing than the earlier guff>

The wealthy and the fishes.

Don't forget the fishes.

They've been highly prominent beneficiaries of the UK's EU membership.

The benefit cap is £20,000 outside Greater London.

So a salary of around £68,000 per year (give or take) would be required for this amount of contribution.

Again, it's an example of the level of affluence and priviledge that many Remain supporters enjoy. Of course, this wealthy elite are almost completely disconnected from the lives of the disadvantaged and vulnerable people that the EU has tossed aside.

As we have seen on this very forum and elsewhere, the contempt the EU elite hold for disadvantaged and less educated people is shocking. Perhaps, according to some Remainers, only those in a certain income bracket should have the right to vote...?
