The Consequences of Brexit [part 4]

Recommended Posts

You have to wonder at the ineptitude that involves commissioning a £30bn nuclear weapons system upgrade to protect against the Russians, then caving in to Russian wishes off the back of a few million quid spent on what is effectively warfare through the media.

Trident didn’t help us there did it

Not much being said on here about Davis's lack of democratic process.

Not much being said about the £100bn that the UK has agreed it owes (although it will try to get the final bill down).

Nothing being said about the impossible Irish border question.

Nothing being said about the non-EU immigration figure of 900,000 residency permits issued in 2016 - up by 52%

So glad to have control back...

Sorry, I should have posted the link.

Don't conflate the EU Referendum with the USA Presidential Election.

As of today, there is no credible evidence of Russian influence in the EU Referendum available to the public. The mental gymnastics which some people are putting themselves through is fascinating to watch.

And a little bit more from that article:-

It goes on to say that after the US election, Mark Zuckerberg "poo-poohed" the idea that Facebook was used for Russian propaganda, but has since said he regrets his earlier remarks.

So which is the real or the fake news..

Up to 10M may have seen divisive ads, 10M saw divisive ads or 126M Americans may have seen Russian linked posts. No withstanding that this was also about the US elections and not Brexit. It seems that the media also are not sure of the validity and substance of the reports.

What is not mentioned though is that despite this Clinton's total beat Trump by 2,864,974 votes.

The article you quoted is about Brexit interference and it makes the connection.

As of today, there is no credible evidence of Russian influence in the EU Referendum available to the public.

"available to the public"...

The security services certainly seem to think they've tried in our elections, as the PM said a few days ago, so why not the referendum?

As the article you quoted says, new findings are emerging all the time.

The mental gymnastics which some people are putting themselves through is fascinating to watch.

Indeed, a shame you were rumbled :hihi:
