Communist-era judges and collaborators of that regime are still presiding over trials in Poland.

 

The Polish people want these judges to be retired. The EU doesn't.

 

That'll be why the Poles have been out on the streets for the last couple of years demonstrating against what their government wants to do.

Oh you actually mean a real gun, one with bullets, not a metaphorical political gun. Thank goodness that the EU will never have an army that it can use to flex political power among members, especially the eastern ones bordering or in the former Soviet Union. Oh, hang on.
