The Consequences of Brexit [part 4]

Recommended Posts

So your argument extols nativism, but the $$ we should target post-Brexit is 'in the rest of the world'?

Makes sense :| (/sarc)

This country has untraded potential that runs into the billions of pounds. It's no secret that the world is racing ahead whilst we sit idle. The EU once accounted for 30% of global GDP back in the 80s. According to the IMF this is expected drop to 15% of global GDP by 2022. The EU commission themselves estimate that 90% of global growth will happen outside their borders.

We've got to embrace the wider (wealthier) world. The EU haven't been able to deliver FTAs with Brazil, USA, Middle East, India, and China. We've got to deliver on this ourselves which is why we start formal trade negotiations with the world's largest economy later on this month.

The Brexit game is up. Even the staunchest Tories are starting to realise.

Another 6-12 months before the idea is all but dead IMO

I don't think the 'game' is up, perhaps a reshuffling of the players. There's a much broader agenda that's driving Brexit. Britain wants to reposition herself geopolitically.

Sorry but the numbers simply don't stack up. It's just fantasy and that is going to become clearer with every passing month. The idea that the EU is somehow isolated from global trade and stagnating while the world races ahead is just nonsense.

You what? Britain under its current leadership couldnt reposition its collective hands on its collective arse without a) a map, b) falling over or c) changing its mind. I've more decisive action from a moth when you suddenly turn a light on.

No,they re- structure the budget.there's plenty of slack to cut there. That's another reason why your money won't be missed, bigging yourself up that way isn't going to help the forgotten, voiceless ones in the UK that voted for Brexit because they were being ignored, you try telling them that Brexit is a success for them because EU countries are paying more into the budget now that the UK has gone, see what they say to that.

my bold=

The EU budget is facing a black hole of upto €20 billion and you are saying they won't miss our money? :hihi:= http://uk.businessinsider.com/eu-fears-brexit-will-create-20-billion-budget-black-hole-2017-6

Pull the other one, it's got bells on it :D

Another one that can't seem to comprehend re-structuring a budget as a means of getting around this 'problem'.

When the ones who voted for Brexit start to wonder about the promised increased living standards, wages, infrastructure funding, you go and tell them not to worry, the EU has a black hole,so they should all be dancing in the streets in celebration.

The EU parasites plan to get around this 'problem' by getting the UK to pay a hefty exit bill

"While estimates vary because spending commitments are multiyear, a report from the UK’s House of Lords earlier this year put the British contribution at 12 per cent. The funding gap, and the possibility of a big political fight over how to fill it, is one of the main factors behind the push from EU capitals for Britain to pay a hefty exit bill as part of its Brexit divorce."

Walk away to WTO and don't pay anything then,it's pretty simple to get around that. It's the UK government that wants to re negotiate back into something it was just voted out of.

That is exactly what the UK government should do, if the EU will not play ball. There should be no negotiations. The UK should simply give the EU a take it or leave offer to continue tariff free trading. No freedom of movement, No exit payment. Allow those EU people here before the vote with no criminal convictions, to stay only if they accept the take it or leave it deal.
