The Consequences of Brexit [part 4]

Recommended Posts

Jürgen Klopp, the German manager of Liverpool, has stated that Brexit “makes no sense at all” and that he believes the British electorate should think about Brexit again, and vote again with the 'right' (code for pro-EU) information.

Klopp, in an interview with The Guardian newspaper, also spoke of his admiration for Angela Merkel, the German chancellor, saying she is “doing an unbelievable job”.

Angela Merkel's controversial open-door policy to refugees in 2015 has bitterly divided Germany. The 'Alternative for Germany' AfD, the main opposition party to Merkel's , stated recently that “Society is falling apart". Merkel, it seems, is doing an unbelievable job of creating division in Germany.

The AfD entered the Bundestag for the first time in September 2017 after earning 12.6 percent of the vote. They are currently the largest opposition party.

Jürgen Klopp should stick to being massively overpaid for telling people to kick a ball about, and keep his misguided, undemocratic and out of touch views to himself.

Thats the sign of a strong democracy, denying foreigners the right to an opinion.

On this issue he is 100% correct, Brexit makes no sense :loopy:

He can't be that out of touch when the majority of leavers now want to remain within the customs union :hihi:

Jürgen Klopp is entitled to his misguided opinion.

But using a national newspaper to broadcast his call for the British electorate to vote again, with the "right information", as he calls it, is an abuse of his privileged position and an insult to Leave voters. Perhaps he is unaware the the Remainer British Government of David Cameron sent a pro-EU leaflet to every household in the UK before the referendum? Did this not contain the "right information"? Not according to Jürgen Klopp.

The Remain campaign was fought on lies and scaremongering. Unfortunately it was quite successful as without 'Poject Fear' and the £9 Million EU propaganda leaflet many more millions of people would have voted to leave.

No mention of leaving the customs union in that leaflet :suspect:

People now realise project fear stands a lot better chance of happening than any of the leavers promises, they're unravelling on a daily basis.

That's why the majority of leavers now want to stay in the customs union and the single market :hihi:

This is patently nonsense.

No. But the leaflet does state:

This is your decision. The Government will implement what you decide.

We voted to Leave the EU and all its essential components. Staying in the single market and the customs union means, in reality, staying in the EU. That's why die hard Remainers such as your good self, who refuse to respect and accept the democratic outcome of the referendum, are so desperate to keep us locked into the customs union and the single market.

Free trade does not actually require a customs union and over half of UK trade happens without it. Most UK trade of goods (52% in 2016) is NOT with the EU. Non-EU trade takes place without a customs union and is growing much faster than trade with the EU. In 2015, the US was the largest recipient of UK goods exports (16.6%). There is no EU-US Free Trade Agreement, let alone a customs union.

When we take account of UK exports going to the EU of both goods and services, there has been a dramatic fall from 54% in 2000 to 43% in 2016.

Nope ;)

So there never was any promise made in the referendum that a vote to leave the EU also included the CU.

We're leaving the EU, very doubtful we'll be leaving the CU in anything but name. :hihi:
