The Consequences of Brexit [part 4]

Recommended Posts

That old guff again

The UK has a sovereign parliament, as confirmed by the Supreme Court. There is no will of the people in UK constitutional law. That is why referenda can never be anything other than advisory. The will of the people is just popular BS with no legal basis.

The real problem here is that the UK voter is ignorant of how their country is actually governed. That is why there is a call for another advisory referendum, the abolishment of the House of Lords and so on, when in fact a general election is required to give a mandate for change.

And lest you forget, the 2017GE did not give either side a mandate: that's why May had to jump in bed with Arlene's lot. Brexit as conducted by May's government since then, is not that far removed from a dictatorship. Some can see it for what it is. Some keep asking for seconds of snake oil. Most don't seem to care. And deserve everything that's coming to them.

What did Boris tell the ambassador asking him 'what about the concerns of business'? He is quoted as responding 'f*** business'. The fly in the ointment is, it's that very same 'f***ed business' which has been paying for the NHS so far, through taxation. Happy crashing

Need to correct you there. You can’t say all referendums are only advisory. The Alternative Vote referendum we had was NOT advisory.

The Brexit referendum was however advisory.

I was taken to task recently for using the term Brextremists to describe those Leave voters who are still demanding that the UK leaves the EU regardless of the outcome and regardless of the fact that they are now the minority in the country.

I thought about it for a while then saw this banner from the pro-leave rally in London yesterday.

I think the term Brextremist is about right for this bunch of easily led cranks, racists, xenophobes and bewildered who don't care a damn about this country as long as their extreme political ambitions are fulfilled.

Actually it's the workers who are paying for the NHS through their taxes, while big business uses every trick in the accounting book to avoid paying.

If Remaining in the EU is so popular and desirable, the Liberal Democrats would be in office.

Why aren't they?

Like the woman at the front with a free Tommy t shirt, while her country is chained to the EU.:hihi:

What about them? (I mean BMW and Airbus, not remoaners.)

As usual with you, Car Boot, mafya and other vocal Brexiteers you are avoiding the points you can't answer. These points put you either in the stretch-learning or panic-learning zones and it is pretty clear you don't like that. It is easier to be naive and gullible.

Oh dear,

"The aerospace giant held talks with MPs and ministers on Thursday, discussing the possibility of receiving taxpayers’ cash and opening a new facility in the southern part of the UK.

Following the meeting, Airbus CEO Tom Williams issued a stark warning to the Government, saying as many as 14,000 British jobs could be at risk if the Brexit talks ended without a deal.

But Tory MP Jack Lopresti, who spent two hours with company bosses, said they never mentioned once Brexit as a problem, and blamed France and Germany for trying to punish Britain.

Mr Lopresti said during the meeting Airbus chiefs asked Business Minister Richard Harrington for Government funding and invited the Prime Minister to open their new ‘Wind of the Future’ facility at Filton, near Bristol."

It’s the Express........again

Shall we link to some other insane Express articles so we can establish the credibility of the paper?

And maybe then think about why a hard Brexit-supporting MP might be briefing a hard Brexit-supporting comic?

Oh really?

For a start France and Germany are major shareholders in Airbus and what anonymous 'company bosses' may or may not have said means very little when both Airbus CEO Tom Williams and Exec Vice President Katherine Bennett gave extensive interviews on the day making it absolutely clear that a Brexit without a proper deal would cause Airbus real problems with remaining in the UK.
