Jacob Rees Mogg

Recommended Posts

He'd be my dream leader for the Tories, anybody with half a brain knows within 3 sentences the man is a balloon with a posh accent, those without will think he is a pompous balloon. Win/win all around.
..........and there's plenty in the Socialist Republic with half a brain and no brain at all.

he hasn't got a 19th century accent . just because he is rich, highly educated and more intelligent than Anyone in the Labour party it appears he is a target for the envious

Don't judge others as being motivated envy. Just because you are, doesn't mean to say others are.

Worth saying that because someone is rich and highly educated, doesn't make them anymore intelligent than anyone else.

If you're going to mock others as not being as intelligent as JRM, then you should at least use standard punctuation.

Clement Attlee was Prime Minister when I was born and whatever your political views he was a man who deserved respect.

Winston Churchill succeeded him, and again whatever your leanings he also deserved some respect.

That this country has sunk so low that people are actually contemplating Jacob Rees-Mogg as a potential Prime Minister is an indication as to how pitiful we have become.

At no time in my lifetime have we been so bereft of political heavyweights.

It matters not which party you support there isn't a single one among them that look capable of providing leadership.

This has already been posted on another thread by another poster but if you haven't seen it take a look.

Rees-Moggs voting record.

He's another one like Gove, a political 'Hawk' who believes in 'affirmative action'.

In other words wanting other men to place themselves in mortal danger whilst quite obviously being incapable of doing the same.

Attlee and Churchill walked the walk this lot aren't capable.

Right at a time in history when we need strong and confident leadership we are landed with this lot.

He certainly likes to play up to the 'Tory Toff' type role.

However, he certainly knows the workings of Parliament and seems a genuine Politician (if there is such a thing).

He is obviously well educated and very articulate in interviews etc.

He is also a Brexiteer :

You couldn't get more chalk n cheese with him and Citizen Corbyn could you.

The alternative could be Corbyn !

How worrying is that ?

Lots of talk in the press recently about JRM becoming next leader of the Conservative Party.

He certainly is a character.

He could even become our next Prime Minister !

Could he be the saving grace for the Tories ?

The Eton schoolboy v Citizen Corbyn.

What do people make of JRM then ?

Likeable but not leadership material. His strong catholic views influence his voting.

He even admits he is far too much of a fuddy duddy to be Prime Minister.

Maybe so, but as a previous poster stated - the country bereft of quality Politicians at the moment (and probably will be for a long time).

He seems straight talking and quite a likeable chap.

Anybody seen the video of him on YouTube with Ali G ?

Corbyn would be just as bad no worse.

Neither of them is capable of filling the position, and neither is May for that matter.

One of my problems with Rees-Mogg is that he is an affectation, a caricature of a man.

He's playing a part and is an anachronistic joke, he'd be an embarrassment representing the country.

You may not be old enough to remember Sir Alec Douglas Hume who was PM in the early 60s, also an Old Etonian.

He spoke with a clipped cut glaarrse accent as well, but you know what, it didn't matter in the slightest at the time.

It was in and of its time and place, loads of 'well educated' people, both men and women spoke in that manner and no one thought it odd.

But that was over fifty years ago, times have changed, it's obvious that Rees-Mogg is doing it in order to draw attention to himself, which begs the question why?

If he was confident enough of his own abilities he wouldn't need the showmanship would he?

Yes I agree, he certainly plays on his accent / upbringing etc

He is not putting himself forward for the leadership I don't think. Its more the press putting him forward as a 'possible' successor to May.
