Road resurfacing, Amey & Streets Ahead

Recommended Posts

Had a letter through the door this morning saying that Ripley Street / Walkley Lane / Heavygate Road are going to be relaid again in early August to (hopefully!) repair the previous shoddy job. Great, more disruption!

so let me get this straight.... They are actually coming back to rectify what wasn't done properly first time around, and all you can do is moan? unbelievable....

You come and have 3+ nights of broken sleep when you have to do shift work that includes 24 shifts then see if you don't complain! :(

The road over Crookes and down to Hillsborough is built on a clay base. Amey didn’t dig down far enough when they replaced it. Heavy rains have washed the clay out from under the road and its collapsing.

I'm told they'll be redoing it all while the schools are shut as in theory that reduces congestion.

Hopefully this time they'll do a better job of it.

The main point is how this exemplifies the incompetence of Amey and SCC in this PFI contract and continues to raise the likelihood that we will be stiffed before it is over.

Totally agree, wouldn't let them loose on a children's playground never mind all the roads in Sheffield.
