stpetre
Possible 1968? As I lived nearby, I think the explosion happened in 1965. there were two fatalities, the house occupants.

geocol
There are deaths for John T and Freda M Martin in 1968, No.80 Canada Street, missing in 1974 These are 2 images showing the remains of the destroyed properties on http://www.picturesheffield.com, both dated 1968. http://www.picturesheffield.com/frontend.php?keywords=Ref_No_increment;EQUALS;u06558&pos=13&action=zoom&id=99163 http://www.picturesheffield.com/frontend.php?keywords=Ref_No_increment;EQUALS;u06559&pos=14&action=zoom&id=99164 It was officially described as a Gas Explosion. I have been told that the bottom end of Canada Street was cordoned off, and an unexploded bomb was searched for but never found in 1940. A coincidence. ?
