Gender Fluid etc, Opinions?

Recommended Posts

A post-op M to F person - who is (as far as they are concerned a woman), living as a woman, looks like a woman, dresses like a woman and behaves like a woman.

Why should she not be in a women's prison again?

Do you think a men's prison would be a safe and appropriate place?

Would you be willing to insist that such a person is imprisoned with men?

How do women behave?

Halibut - I don't know the answer to your question but I do know that it is not for men to say whether a trans woman should be imprisoned with female prisoners. That decision should be made by those who are biologically female - the prisoners themselves and the staff. Some of the women prisoners have very bad experiences of men and may be serving their sentences because of that. Despite surgery, hormone therapy etc trans women are still essentially male and it is simply wrong to insist that they share space with biological women if it is inappropriate and unwanted.

Yes they are essentially male. There are things which cannot be changed by taking hormones and undergoing surgery. For instance, they cannot change their chromosomes, male pelvis, distribution and structure of fat cells, propensity for some forms of illness.

After death, identification of a body is done by DNA and by examining the skeleton. At that point the person is identified as either male or female. The transgender status is irrelevant.

Some (hopefully just a few) transgender women become disillusioned after having all this treatment because they realise that they have not actually become female. Some are delighted with their transformation but more good, and long term research needs to be done.

Despite what you claim they are not fundamentally male, you're confusing biological indications of sex with gender.

Theres no confusion. Biological characteristics are what defines gender.

You are confusing gender with gender identity- the personal sense of ones own gender
