Boris Johnson international gaffe on road to Mandalay

Recommended Posts

Neither Boris nor Rees Mogg have even a remote chance of being next Tory Leader. The loonies on the far right of the party might support them but there aren't enough of those crackpots.

Not unless the Tories do something daft like letting people join the party for a fiver and on a 1 member 1 vote basis. That's really unlikely tho as it would open the floodgates for all manner of whackos to take over the party.

I'm pretty sure the Burmese have more [pressing matters] to contend with

Of course, but at some point soon we might want to negotiate a trade deal with them. All our other former colonies are paying attention too - you only have to noticed the reaction to the Empire 2.0 thing to get an idea of why a foreign secretary with so little cultural sensitivity isn't a good idea. If Theresa May had a secret remainer plan to make brexit fail, making Boris foreign secretary was a good way to start it.

You'll just have to wait until next year to see what's being planned with the British Commonwealth. It's all very exciting!
