If more of the republican party had spoke out earlier then things might have been different. but their silence at best shows a lack of understanding of the damage this is doing to american democracy and at worst, contempt for it and complicity in Trump's attempted coup. The attempt by Texas and other states to interfere with the electoral laws of other states. while quite rightly rejected by the supreme court undermines the relationships between the states and that undermines the union. No one really believes that Trump stands a chance, so no one seems to have looked into the abyss and considered what might happen if he actually suceeded.
