Biden Lacks Punch and Putin Knows It

"“Whatever you think of Donald Trump, he never would have allowed Vladimir Putin to run circles around him, which is what Putin has done to hapless Joe Biden. And he certainly would not have appeased Putin and given the Russian president everything he asked for from the START treaty to greenlighting Russia’s Nord Stream 2 pipeline, without getting something in return. All Biden got from Putin was grief. Trump is a businessman and that is what businessmen do. They do not give things away without getting something in return. He is also a bully who knows how to deal with other bullies.”

Falls at the first hurdle with the statement:

"Biden has turned the U.S from an energy independent nation into a country that now imports oil from Russia."

...it isn't true

Monthly US oil production had the largest short term drop, in history, under Trump :?

Is The U.S. Energy Independent?:

https://www.forbes.com/sites/rrapier/2021/11/14/is-the-us-energy-independent/

"However, thus far the price surge is primarily a result of 3 million barrels per day (BPD) of oil production that was lost in the spring of 2020 that hasn’t fully recovered. Demand has fully recovered, so that is the fundamental reason for the surge in prices. Further, that surge began in the fall of 2020 — five months before President Trump left office.

The energy independence that we gained in 2019, was lost in the second half of 2020 as energy production plunged, but energy demand recovered. In May 2020, we had flipped back to a net oil importer, and we have oscillated since."

What we have seen under Biden is a continuation of the trend that started in September 2020, before he took office!

On the plus side, the number of rigs drilling for oil in the US has risen by 62% under Biden, so he may well regain the energy independence that Trump lost... and keep it! :)

Some trend!

"Russia producers nearly tripled shipments of oil to the United States in 2021 – in 2020, the United States imported from Russia on average 76,000 barrels per day (bpd), while in 2021, that figure rose to 209,000 bpd, according to data from the Energy Information Administration (EIA) of the U.S. Department of Energy".

It rained yesterday. Blame Trump!

So, your claim of energy independence was BS when you made it...

...the US did not enjoy energy independence when Trump left office!

Huge surprise... ;)

A bit daft to post an article based on something you knew was false though...

...who were you trying to fool, yourself?

In reality, the US’s march to energy independence slowed under Trump:

https://www.cnbc.com/2018/08/09/americas-rapid-march-to-energy-independence-has-slowed-under-trump.html

...it would have happened earlier without him, and he couldn't keep it up! :hihi:

Weird how almost everything you like to moan about these days actually began under Trump though... isn't it! :D

What's really weird is how Trump gets ALL the blame for everything going on today, and Biden gets none, from the sycophants.  :)

I mean, the man has been out of office for over a year!

Lol

Politico's factcheck of Trump's promise to make the U.S. Energy independent - Half True

"U.S. nears ‘energy independence’ Trump promised during 2016 campaign"

The U.S. hasn't achieved the "complete American energy independence" that President Donald Trump promised on the campaign trail in 2016, but the country is moving toward it"

https://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/promises/trumpometer/promise/1359/achieve-energy-independence/

That was in June 2020, before COVID hit the fan, and all economic bets were off the table!

So I'll accept Politicos "half true" on this one.

He's getting some blame for most of the things you like to blame Biden for...

...because in reality, they started on his watch.

Since it backs up my claims, me too! :D

Trump did not achieve energy independence, but continued a trend started a decade earlier.

According to your link:

"hydraulic fracturing has largely driven the trend"... driven as a direct result of legislation passed by Obama!

You have no problem with Trump taking credit for something that mostly happened under Obama and only happened cause of Obamas policies, but when it comes to Biden you can't conceive of the notion! :loopy:

Colour me shocked...! :hihi:

Not so fast Moriarty!

I take back my acceptance of Politico's rating of "half true". What in heaven does that really mean, anyway? :)   (Politico has a Lean Left AllSides Media Bias Rating™.)

Here's something more credible than Politico.

Statistica

Energy imports in the U.S. - Statistics & facts

 Sep 7, 2020

The United States is a net exporter of energy. 2019 was the first year in a half century that the U.S. produced more energy than it consumed and was able to export greater volumes of primary energy than it needed to import. This is the result of increased domestic oil and natural gas production as well as greater use of renewables, and a decline in primary energy demand. Energy consumption came to 94.65 exajoules in 2019.

Thank you Donald!  :)

It refers to "complete energy independence", as the article makes clear in the headline...

...as in, being able to keep it up... Donald couldn't :?

...and then, the next month US oil production had the largest short term drop in history.

The US was not energy independent when Trump left office!

The vast majority of the march to energy independence happened on Obama's watch and most of that, particularly "hydraulic fracturing", are as a direct result of Obama policies.

Like Trumps job numbers... standing on the shoulders of giants!

New York Times has reported Trump told Putin if he invaded Ukraine he would bomb Moscow.

This is what a real source (MSM) looks like:

"Putin’s Aggression Leaves His Right-Wing Fan Club Squirming

The Russian strongman has for years been idolized by a Who’s Who of populist, nationalist leaders. They are now stumbling over what to say". New York Times 26/02/2022

As Putin ran rings around Trump it really does not matter what Trump allegedly says now.
