A failed Republican state legislative candidate, who authorities say was angry over losing an election last November and made baseless claims that the vote was “rigged”, has been arrested in connection with a series of drive-by shootings targeting the homes of Democratic lawmakers in New Mexico’s largest city.

Albuquerque police chief Harold Medina held a news conference on Monday evening hours after Swat officers arrested Solomon Pena at his home.

Medina described Pena as the “mastermind” of what appears to be a politically motivated criminal conspiracy behind four shootings at, or near, the homes of two county commissioners and two state legislators.

Trump and lawyer ordered to pay $1m for bringing ‘frivolous’ lawsuit against Hillary Clinton

Quote

In a scathing ruling, US district court judge Donald Middlebrooks castigated Trump and his lead attorney, Alina Habba, for abusing the legal system by advancing a lawsuit that furthered his political grievances over the 2017 Russia investigation using arguments replete with misinformation and errors.

“We are confronted with a lawsuit that should never have been filed, which was completely frivolous, both factually and legally, and which was brought in bad faith for an improper purpose,” Middlebrooks wrote in the 46-page order imposing sanctions of $937,989.39 against Trump and Habba.

The suit was against Hillary Clinton, who's fake Russian Collusion Dossier, he believes, cost him the election and disenfranchised somee 70 million U.S. voters.

I understand the ruling will be appealed!

Here we go again.!

But as a billionaire, about to to start his next campaign for President, he can likely spare a million, for the publicity value to keep the issue before the public.

Seems to be working. It's made its way to the SF!

A frivolous lawsuit, an abuse of the justice system, and a massive fine... but Trump, and you, still can't see the obvious... your claims are laughable nonsense.

No one was disenfranchised, their candidate lost.

The only person who has insisted anyone's vote should be disenfranchised, ever... is Trump and his claims of the "Big Lie"! :loopy:

Some might argue that looking like an incompetent chump is the sort of publicity value you can do without.

It shows Trump is rash, and incompetent. Does that translate into votes I wonder... :suspect:

What Trump believes counts for nothing - courts work on evidence.

He claims he's going to appeal it now but will he really? The judge didn't say "You had reasonable motives to bring the case but I've ruled against you.", he said "We are confronted with a lawsuit that should never have been filed, which was completely frivolous, both factually and legally, and which was brought in bad faith for an improper purpose". So on what grounds would Trump appeal? Appealing a ruling that your lawsuit was "completely frivolous, both factually and legally, and which was brought in bad faith for an improper purpose" is a very high bar to pass and would likely result in a much higher penalty. Trump's claim he's going to appeal is just for the benefit of his supporters.

He's already said he believes it should be paid by his attorney.

It will boost his support amongst those who were always going to vote for him anyway. He hasn't realised that in order to win he has to appeal to more than just his committed fans.

Wrong: You claim that 70 million US voters were deprived of the right to vote for him ( "...disenfranchised..." ) in the 2020 election which if they had voted would have nearly doubled his 2020 vote and winning every state. The missing 70 million voters are larger in number than the number who voted for him in 2016 when he won.

Even Trump did not see Russian Collusion as having a major impact on his loss preferring instead claim the election was rigged or blaming Republicans.
