taxman
Anyone remember Roy Hodgson trying to get England players to sing the anthem. Some of them just stared straight at the ground. http://m.huffpost.com/uk/entry/5429752 Thinking back, Gary Nevile was alleged to be an English republican who also didn't believe in god and many people thought that was the reason he never sung the anthem. ---------- Post added 21-10-2017 at 18:29 ---------- It used to be played every night at shutdown on BBC TV, usually about midnight. Unthinkable now of course. Ours is a really odious anthem though. Many other countries sing about great victories or endeavors or the struggles of their people. Ours is pleading to a non existent entity to grant an unelected ruler reign over all her subjects. Why would anyone really want to be so servile and pathetic? But if you decide to use Rule Britannia instead then the World would accuse Britain of wanting Colonialism back, although it is more of an anthem than the God Save The Queen one. Canada still has an oath of allegiance to the Queen as part of the citizenship procedure, at least I think it is still there, and has her image on the 20 dollar bill, but they do have their own anthem i.e. Oh Canada. Jonny5
Colin Kaepernick signed a $126 million contract in 2014. America made him extremely wealthy. I dont take his little hissy fit seriously. He lost the vast majority of that and is now unemployed. Granted it was mostly because he got found out as being not very good. However he is still good enough to play NFL in some capacity but he is now considered toxic. The thickos in the US don't want an "entitled" athlete moaning about black people getting shot. Just throw the ball!!!

Imagine when Elizabeth II dies or steps aside and we have to sing God Save the King, for Charles. I think many people are going to struggle with that. Lex Luthor
When people watch sport they want to watch sport, not have someone's personal political views rammed down their throats. . Please, honestly, tell me how you felt when FIFA banned our teams from wearing poppies.
