Car Boot
A good example of why some idiots voted brexit, - living in the past days of rose tinted glory. They'll be voting for the British Army to go into battle wearing red coats while shooting Zulu's next. The above post is a good example of the lack of empathy and complete disregard for comparatively recent history that many Remainers have. All they see is money, not society. ---------- Post added 30-11-2017 at 09:47 ---------- Sadly, the UK isn't staying in the SM Not staying in the EU Single Market is a reason to rejoice! The single market requires full compliance with virtually all aspects of the anti-worker EU treaty law and EU directives. Compliance with EU rules on competition, procurement, and on state aid to industry. These rules BAN any form of public ownership that distorts competition — ruling out the comprehensive renationalisation of railways, postal services or energy/water utilities. And being a part of the Single Market also requires the free movement of goods, services, labour and capital. Including the 'right of establishment' - the right of business to operate without undue hindrance from national legislation. The last thing workers need is to be part of the neoliberal Single Market. You know that the French, Germans and the Dutch are one of the best for workers rights, right? You give me a SINGLE piece of EU Legislation that is bad for workers. Just one..... any one. hobinfoot
If the figure of 40 to 50 billion over 40 years is true we will still be better off. Over that time our contribution will be 10 times the amount leaving us 300 to 400 billion better off.
Car Boot
You give me a SINGLE piece of EU Legislation that is bad for workers. Just one..... any one. Okay. The Free Movement of Labour, enshrined in Article 45 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union, developed by EU secondary legislation and the Case law of the European Court of Justice, has been an absolute disaster for workers. In the UK It has reduced wage growth and ensured business hasn't invested in training, damaging national productivity. It has threatened the quality of life for those at the bottom of society by pitting worker against worker in competition for employment, housing, healthcare and education. Free movement has been a deliberate EU policy to deplete the economies of Eastern Europe of its skills and youth and to undermine social provisions and communities in the west. All for the benefit of big business and its profits. The EU is a political union protecting an economic trading bloc, not a safety net for workers and the poor. EU Treaties protect four sacrosanct business freedoms. To provide services, establish business, move capital, and move labour. From one member State to another. All with the neoliberal purpose of ensuring that there is no threat to competition or any reduction in profit. These four freedoms have legislative supremacy over all other EU given rights. The Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) trade agreement between the EU and the US will also prove harmful to workers. This agreement, already a part of the EU constitution, aims to reduce the regulatory barriers to trade for big business on food safety law, environmental legislation, banking regulations and the sovereign powers of individual nations. Negotiations are currently being resumed. TTIP is coming, and will undermine job security as well as current minimum labour standards agreed in the EU - which can be swept away by a single ruling of the European Court of Justice. Car Boot
Idiots that voted leave. A typical post supporting the Remain in the EU side. Inarticulate. Bitter. Angry. Insulting.
