Are SCC/Amey out of control?

Recommended Posts

Well you were just complaining that they were working at 4am - and I've just explained that they are not doing that for fun - its being forced on them to an extent.

By "being forced on them" you mean that they can get away with trespassing and cutting branches for which they haven't been given permission to access the land they need?

So, they're breaking the law because they can't do it legally, and doing so in the early hours of the morning so they aren't caught.

Do you think they are doing the right thing then, and are a good company acting in the best interests of the people of Sheffield?

Or do you think that they are concerned about one thing - profit- and will do anything to get it?

I'm yet to see any evidence of the former, and absolutely stacks to back up the latter.

Well they are a private contractor working on a PFI scheme so of course they are concerned about profit.

That's sort of the trade off to fund this level of investment.

and now they have come in the night and cut down trees, which had been extensively decorated with Christmas lights etc to raise funds for charity. Pretty disgraceful if you ask me.

What 'investment'? What 'trade off'? Do you work for Amey?! Or are you simply trolling?

How is contracting work out to an aggressive company 'investing' in anything other than profit for them?

What 'investment' has been made, and to what end? The council have signed a dodgy contract they won't reveal to a company to maintain streets, and to do this as cheaply as possible they hack down trees so they don't need to maintain them.

Where does the 'investment' come into things?

Presumably investment of public money into a road refurb and street maintenance programme.

Why is "Do you work for Amey?!" your stock response? Are you unable to accept other people may not agree with you, without having some hidden agenda?

But we've not seen HOW our money has been invested! Is it an investment? Or a corrupt bung to a company? The fact we are not allowed to see any details naturally leads to huge amounts of suspicion.

I accept that people MAY think Amey are a great company, doing a fantastic job for the people of Sheffield- all I ask is reasons WHY they think this. Perhaps with a bit if evidence? As they offer none, suspicions that certain people on here are plants will continue to abound. Spirited defences of huge money making multi-national companies with proven histories of bad behaviour by individuals usually suggests a vested interest, no?

People can offer many, many examples of why Amey are bullies, corrupt, out for nothing but profit, and incredibly shady, alongside why they think this.

If they aren't these things, and if the contract is a fantastic 'investment'- lets have the proof.

---------- Post added 13-12-2017 at 13:08 ----------

The contract secured £1.2billion of funding from the DfT that Sheffield wouldn't have had otherwise.

That "investment".

That's not an investment though. This contract had nothing to do with that appeal.

That's a PFI deal. Hence not an 'investment'.

I don't think you understand.

It may be worth gathering some facts on the subjects rather than accuse people of trolling for not agreeing with your "suspicions".
