i read the other day that the company behind many shop cash machines are planning to remove many of them due to losses .

Interesting have noticed a lot of the machines in pubs and local supermarkets have disappeared however you could hardly say its difficult to find one yet as they are still virtually everywhere and cashback is available at most supermarkets which actually benefits them as they have less cash to process.

locally we have one shop with a cash machine the next nearest is half a mile away and that means walking back up a very steep hill, ok if you are young and fit.

Is the branch of the Halifax still open?

Not sure - but it's a bloody long way away if it is. There's not a single cash machine that doesn't charge anywhere near any of the Leppings Lane estate. Crazy really, given the fact it is home to so many people AND affects people going to the football.

I think there's a Lloyds too but it's again right in the centre.

Councils are sending back dated separate business rates to shops, pubs etc that have cash machines that’s why most are getting rid= https://www.burges-salmon.com/news-and-insight/legal-updates/hole-in-the-wall-atms-at-risk-after-business-rates-decision/

if you can then try to use the smaller local branches whenever possible. yes it might benefit you in the long run but more likely it will benefit those that have various challenges in getting into the city branches.

not everyone wants to do everything online.

if you don't use online bank facilities then you lessen likelihood of attracting those that can hack your account

It's crazy that at a time when Nat West are closing branches permanently they make a decision to close the High Street branch for refurbishment for about 2 months.

The sign on the door says use Atterliffe or Broomhill. Some of us who run businesses have customers who want to pay in cash.

Couldn't the closure of those other branches taken place after the High Street branch was completed?

The government don't want us to dealing in cash, they are still a major shareholder in RBS / Nat West and this is down to making it more difficult for us rather than any cost cutting exercise.

BTW I wonder what Nat West have done with the staff from High Street over this closure period. Very difficult to move them to other branches that are now closed.
