“Can I get” is American.

 

Lots of young English people seem to say it now because they’re daft.

 

... or watch a lot of American things.

 

I don't even think people have to see a lot of it either to be influenced by it. I tend to notice different ways of asking for things (in this example), when spoken in different accents.
