Council tree felling...

Recommended Posts

Just seen our illustrious leader Terry Fox on Calendar… what a slob.. couldn’t even button up his shirt/tie and basically said he was the man for the job going forward… oh yes Terry because you got it spot on re the fiasco with the container mess on Fargate didn’t you!!

Neither you or the incompetents you lead fill me with any confidence at all regarding anything to do with this once great city… it’s time for a change and hopefully in the upcoming local elections you get removed, this circus act simply has to stop!!!!

To be fair Kate came long after the tree felling issue. Terry however was well entrenched and one of the councillors the report holds partly accountable (without actually naming him). And he’s since been ‘promoted’!

As stated in the piece, "The council also made attempts in court - in legal action that was “positively agreed” by leader Julie Dore - to have a number of demonstrators jailed for breaching a protest injunction, with two given suspended jail sentences."

Yet absolutely no apology from Sheffield City Council leader, Julie Dore has so far been forthcoming?  Says a great deal about her in my opinion that she apparently sends out Coun. Mark Jones, to make an apology of sorts this morning on Radio Sheffield with the usual stock statements of lessons will be learned; we're listing to the people of Sheffield; we're aiming to re-engage, etc, blah, blah.

As far as I know, for a great deal of the time when this whole tree felling debacle was going on, Coun. Jones wasn't involved in any respect?

There is also a great silence from two of the other major players in this fiasco, other than Coun. Dore, who were heavily involved & very vocals in their condemnation of protesters, councillors, Bryan Lodge & Terry Fox.  Clearly these two along with Julie Dore are hoping their silence will help in distancing themselves from the damning report in the hope that the citizens of Sheffield forget the part they played in all of this?

As mentioned in the story, Julie Dore should really consider stepping down from her role as council leader.  The least she owes the people of Sheffield, (especially those whose lives were personally affected), is to step up & be questioned on her previous actions & offer her personal apology?

It's to be hoped that come the next local elections, the electorate remember this?

Worth a quote

The council will soon be recruiting teachers to teach the lessons to be learnt about the tree felling and container fiasco.

Containers still in Fargate yesterday.

We only need John Cleese and we could make some brilliant Sheffield comedies, using true life stories without anyone having to make them up.

Get Sheffield Council on the Palladium.

Don't expect the containers to be removed quickly. The people doing the job have to justify the cost.
