to be honest what does it matter

It's like....If I was a millionaire I might spend £15,000 on a rare and amazing bottle of malt whisky. But I wouldn't do it whilst being chair of a charity or being photographed cuddling homeless people.

to be honest, that always ****** me off, you see someone none or passed, celeb, promoting charity are they doing it for free?

If she wants to spend her own money on a dress that’s her business.

How much do Charities pay their chief executives? I bet some of them are on ridiculous incomes, paid for by donations mainly by the public.

Will M Markel get paid a wage when she does charitie work? As will be expected of her when she becomes part of the firm.

I agree with this, but don't forget M Markle will also get money from the state as part of the civil list arrangement when she marries Harry. I also happen to think Royalty should set an example.

I think the Royal family are going to have trouble with the independent minded M Markle, so that should be worth a watch.

Is it just me, or does she remind anybody else of Wallis Simpson?

I could be wrong but I thought Harry did not receive payment from the civil list but I stand to be corrected.

She does not remind me of Wallis.

Not sure, but I thought he was, so she would be entitled to something too. Might be wrong. I'm sure someone will fill us in....

Just looked it up. The Civil List was abolished round about 2011 and replaced with the Sovereign Grant, which goes direct to the Queen. She then distributes it to her family members.

A bit smoke and mirrors if you ask me...

Did you look into where the Sovereign grant goes or just assume that?

The Sovereign Grant is used for payroll and staff costs, property maintenance, travel, utilities, etc.

Official expenditure of Prince Harry (and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge) is met by the Prince of Wales, who gets his income from the Duchy of Cornwall.

https://www.princeofwales.gov.uk/faqs/who-pays-the-duke-and-duchess-of-cambridge-and-prince-harry

"The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry, do not receive a Sovereign's Grant or a Parliamentary Annuity, but use the income from the Duchy of Cornwall to pay for their official activities, supported by The Queen’s Grant-in-Aid funding to provide assistance with official travel and property.

The Duke of Cambridge and Prince Harry have full-time military roles, for which they receive a salary"
