Tabara
Hi, I'm a newbie to the forum, so I may be posting this query in the wrong section. (sorry) Does any one know how I can 'clean up' the strap of 16 year old Quartz water resistant watch? Its been lying in a drawer for a few years and has a layer of something blue (dirt?) on it. Spoke with a jewellers who suggested scrubbing it with hot water and fairy liquid using a toothbrush, but that hasn't worked. Can any one help ? Thanks

" is probably verdigris which are copper compounds from the chemical corrosion of the plated copper wristband. As the wristband is corroding it indicates a low value and should be replaced. However there are plenty of treatments etc. on the web if you want to keep the wristband. Many would advise that copper compounds should not be worn next to the skin (and the chemicals used in treatment) could cause irritation and harm. Annie, Thanks for your reply It was bought for me buy some one very special a number of years ago, so I am not sure what value it was / is. I have googled, but cant seem to find the exact watch. I am thinking of taking it to a watch specialists to see what they suggest. I may have the wrist band replaced to wear and just keep hold of the old one.
