Is the saying ' you can't please everyone ', true or not?

Recommended Posts

Personally, and going on my own experiences, I would have to say its true.

It is the key-flaw in democracy and indeed government. Many a political philosopher has wracked their brain on this topic.

In short - no. Consensus politics is the most achievable 'pleasing' approach and the biggest issue with that is the consensus doesn't appeal as much as the fractions united by it.

This doesn't just apply for politics by the way, it is with everything.

You can't please Anyone or Everyone?

You can't please them all (everyone) but you can certainly please someone (anyone)..

Everyone. And yes, you can always manage to please some. And in my opinion, that's probably what matters the most!

In the 1980's there was a TV comedy show called "Auf Wiedersehen, Pet" it's about a group of British workers on site

in Germany. In this clip they have a vote about the colour of the walls of their hut. They have a choice of colours

and have to indicate their first and second choice.
