The vehicles themselves aren't fitted with a speed limiter?

I guess with different rules in different countries a speed limiter might not be of use?

They are governed to a engine output of 56 mph ( some lower than that ) but if you get on a downward incline etc you can easy go above that and the fines can be high

Talking of lights, sometimes when following a lorry on the motorway I notice their brake light coming on and off from time to time even on a clear road, is this to do with the automatic speed control?, i.e. does the brake light come on when the speed control kicks in?

Just like a car's cruise control, the speed limiter only works by limiting acceleration. It is the driver's responsibility to keep their vehicle from exceeding the speed limit when coasting, going downhill or into lower speed limits.

A lot of new cars have auto dip headlights that switch from high beam to dipped mode when an approaching car is detected and some have auto adjust headlights that follow the contours of the road .Although these seem like a great idea in the real world these systems tend to be less considerate that a human .....but when it comes Audi models they are fitted with drivers that are commonly known as the most selfish people on the planet!
