poppet2
If you have a room with two radiator's in and want to make the room warmer, what is the cheapest thing to do? a) Turn the second radiator on as well, at the same temperature as the first? Or b) Just turn the temperature up on the first radiator?
Bargepole23
If you have a room with two radiator's in and want to make the room warmer, what is the cheapest thing to do? a) Turn the second radiator on as well, at the same temperature as the first? Or b) Just turn the temperature up on the first radiator? Can the first radiator provide enough heat to warm the room to where you want to get to? In terms of cost, I imagine the difference is trivial. You will lose a bit of heat in the pipework to the second rad, but nothing of consequence. You might heat one end of the room more than you want, by using just one rad, and would increase the heat loss through walls and windows at that end. In summary, it's not worth worrying about. Is it a purely academic question?
tinfoilhat
I'm going to throw in radiator location. Is one near a door or window? A lot of heat will just go there. Would an outside wall make a difference? (Not an expert, just musing)
poppet2
Thanks. I also forgot about heat loss through walls and windows, so will put foil behind the rads.

You can purchase radiator fans, I believe they work. https://www.radfan.com/products/classic?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIvKve0_jK2AIV6J3tCh3M7w7OEAQYASABEgIjJPD_BwE
Bargepole23
Thanks. I also forgot about heat loss through walls and windows, so will put foil behind the rads. Kitchen foil, or proper stuff? Waste of time on non-external walls in the main. Not far off a waste of time anyway, the savings are minimal.
geared
Is the wall cavity insulated or solid? I wouldn't worry too much if it was properly insulated anyway.
