In what context?

Huh, do you have a list?

No let's not start over- I am not a fool SnailyBoy.

Whether I believe brain activity can be measured or not is irrelevant to what I was trying to establish.

The truth is, you find it hard accept that the reality is that you/I/we do not USE science in our daily lives to establish certain truths.

What truths are you establishing?

Blimey. I'm trying to get you to agree to a definition of truth to ensure we're on the same page.

Are you using the definition that truth = in accordance with fact or reality?

Fine.

How would you determine if a claim was true?

Ok. I think you still do not understand.

Let us define science and I will use a quote from mathematician and philosopher of science Bertrand Russell, who nicely explains that science is "the attempt to discover, by means of observation and reasoning based upon it...particular facts about the world, and the laws connecting facts with one another".

That is from his book Religion & Science- now in light of this definition, let me further break down the scientific method.

Science has a particular scope. It focuses on the physical world, can can only address natural processes and phenomena.

From this perspective, questions such as 'what is meaning'.. why does 1+1 equal 2, 'why is it wrong to kill' or even 'WHY did my wife make me a cake' are questions outside the scientific process.

So you have fully understand what science is- and hence that science cannot answer everything- to establish truths.

Sorry.

You asked a poster why would they believe something that could not be proven. Now you’re asking me to explain to you how to determine if a claim is true?

Can you answer the question as to why I should believe you love your wife?

I hate to do this to you, but now you have to demonstrate that there's something other than the physical world and the natural process.

I suppose you could call it the supernatural.

So over to you.

I'm getting to that.

Would you use evidence to determine if a claim was true?
