Obelix
Learn to read it. Fortunately thanks to the EU I'd have to - food in this country must be labelled adequately and places that don't do so get reported
Guest makapaka
Fortunately thanks to the EU I'd have to - food in this country must be labelled adequately and places that don't do so get reported The EU text you quoted says nothing about it having to be in an EU language. We won’t be in the EU soon though either. What is it that you particularly want to buy from a Chinese store that you can’t read?

Since you want your nose rubbing in it... https://www.food.gov.uk/sites/default/files/fir-guidance2014.pdf Page 17 section 54. Come back when you feel like apologising. EmmaJones76
And once we leave the EU they are hardly going to change it to say "it can be in whatever language you choose". In the same way we arent suddenly going to bring back in shillings, pounds and pence and scrap all existing health and safety laws
Cyclone
So you'd be happy excluding someone from buying it then...? Making a choice not to buy something because you don't know what it contains is not excluding you. No more than you are excluded from buying products that do contain the things you're allergic to. You rather sensibly CHOOSE not to eat those things, and presumably to eat things where you can't read the label.

Cyclone
Absolutely, the law requires food products to be labelled in English, I don't disagree. I also don't think that it's a big deal though, you won't suffer by not being able to buy these things.
Obelix
You decide to casually discount the safety angle of course.....
tinfoilhat
Learn to read it. If you’re in a wheelchair I appreciate you can’t learn to walk. Nothing is preventing you from purchasing the food other than your refusal to understand the writing on the side. No, disabled people could ask a friend to carry them round. its just lazy otherwise. Guest
It's quite safe to not buy something you can't read isn't it? That would be a great caption for this meme. https://pixel.nymag.com/imgs/daily/selectall/2017/02/09/09-roll-safe.w710.h473.jpg
