if a bike has a loud exhaust it makes any vehicle that you are following aware of you, if you overtake and the vehicle in front is not aware of you, he may turn right unaware of you overtaking, if he knows you are there he will be more cautious, i would always opt for a louder exhaust than a quieter one, (within moderation)
