Guest
I paid my rent for years manually over the phone every week until I set up a direct debit. The downside was I no longer had the free Christmas week.

lingarth
Have you tried setting up a standing order instead, much simpler and you just redo it each year for the 10months needed
willman
And any judge in the land would throw the case out if you have proof a payment plan was agreed to and you were sticking to it. But on a computerised system they aren't sticking to the plan. Anything except the agreed amount is classed as a default, it wouldn't be to a human but it is to a machine. Anything except the agreed amount is classed as a default, it wouldn't be to a human but it is to a machine. That's why it happens. I wouldn't have thought it would be that hard to programme the IT not to churn out a Summons for an overpayment. Maybe the software developer would charge them some ridiculous fee for changing it.
