World Cup 2018 thread

The increase to 48 teams would be a disaster if implemented.

Can you imagine watching another 16 teams of around the quality of Saudi Arabia?

Complete bore fest.

Except they wouldnt all be around the same quality of Saudi Arabia. Over 30 clubs in the world rankings above them didnt qualify for this event.

Going up to 48 teams by 2026 - I assume a round of 32 then a round of 16 ?

No. Group stage, 16 x 3 teams. Top two qualify for the Last 32, so still 7 matches needed to win the title, but 16 more games overall. Still will take the same amount of time to play though.

Only saw the 2nd half of Russia vs Saudi Arabia and must say SA were pathetic, their goal keeper was abysmal

the only reason Russia won so easy is their opponents made them look good, will be a different task when playing Egypt and Uruguay.

How SA qualified is beyond me, when teams like Italy and Holland and Chile are not even there.

Without wanting to turn this thread into something its not, would the Saudi team have been fasting?

Genuine question, Im just wondering if it mightve affected their performance?

Good question, Egypt play today, might give us a clue.

Wow....worthy of the final. Ronaldo may be a complete and utter douchebag...but he's got talent
