WasThatWise
What is a solo motorcycle? Is it a motorcycle not with other motorcycles, is it a motorcycle with no sidecar or a motorcycle with no passenger?
carosio
I've read somewhere that a m/cycle combo is treated as a solo in some circumstances. A solo is a solo whether or not it has a passenger. Would be interesting to know if a m/cycle towing another m/cycle is allowed in a bus lane. A trike is treated differently than a m/cycle combo. Planner1
I'll stand to be corrected by someone with specific knowledge, but I think it only refers to conditional signs, i.e. "no right turn except buses" I presume it's down to the specific wording of the TRO covering an individual junction. I'm sure Planner1 could advise on the specifics. e.g. at Glossop Rd That's correct. Where it's a turn which is banned but signed "Except Buses" the traffic regulation order includes Taxis and Private Hire Vehicles also being able to make the banned turn. ---------- Post added 07-06-2018 at 11:04 ---------- What is a solo motorcycle? DB67
Hi, new user to the forum and really just needed to clarify something about transport in Sheffield. Is it correct that private hire vehicles are allowed to use the bus lanes and bus gates in Sheffield? Please note that private hire is different to Hackney carriage. The reason I ask is because in London and other places like Leeds did is most definitely not allowed and I kinda thought it was the same everywhere. leginemro
When are drivers going to start reading road signs regarding bus lanes ,I have had a stupid driver telling me i am in the wrong lane going down Granville road at 1245 today and i was the only driver in the bus lane when i shouldn't have been ,IF drivers were able to read the road signs it does state that the bus lane is only in operation between certain times of the day and MON TO FRI,Not Saturday not Sunday so outside these times any driver CAN use the bus lane but of course it requires people to actually READ what it says

Huge queue (school run) in the right lane and the left lane completely empty, so I use it (which makes me an arch-villain). I'm not sure if it's because people don't read the sign with the bus lane operating times, or that they just see the queue and join it because that's the British way.
