Hayley1
One of the oldest buildings in Hillsborough that survived the Great Flood and many a Saturday night out. More history gone, plans have been submitted for redevelopment, but into what I cannot find out. The demolition is however listed as being down to the people that run Hillsborough Exchange so maybe they are planning on extending that ? Could be good....as long as it's not filled with nail bars, charity shops, coffee shops, fast food and discount stores...
andyofborg
Could be good....as long as it's not filled with nail bars, charity shops, coffee shops, fast food and discount stores... but that's the only thing which most of the people round hillsborough will support. darylslinn
Is the rumour true that the old Dunelm Mills building is to become another British Heart Foundation outlet dealing in furniture ? All Hillsborough needs is one quality store opening up, such as an M&S Food and the whole area will improve.

It's like there can be nothing nice there. everytime something new opens it looks run down within a couple of months. Strange place.

Too much to hope for, although I believe that there would be a demand for one. Even Pontefract town centre (now there's an experience) can manage an M&S food hall. I've searched for the Old Blue Ball though and I can't find anything.

I am afraid i have to agree, not a patch on the hillsborough of the seventies when i was a kid. There were tailors, shoe shops, electrical shops, woolies ,co-op and a record shop. Its a shame. Where do you go for your tailored suits these days? Tailors, like all the other shops you name, are not a feature of most shopping areas these days anywhere in the UK. Shopping patterns change, they are not fixed forever. Hillsborough is still one of Sheffield's best district shopping centres. It's actually got a lot going for it and seems to battle away against the odds pretty well. Also - the 1970s wasn't that great really. Let's not get all misty-eyed over it. In the North it was generally a bit grim!
