apelike
Rubs salt in a bit - when hot i shouldn't be running the air con because the co2 from the electricity generation adds to the green house effect but no cold lager neither because of no co2 Brew your own.. problem solved. Just cracked open some home brew Czech pills and it is a bit lively with a 3" head but tastes so good I wish Id put a few more in the fridge. One small firm has even sent workers home until further notice Oo Soft drinks producers, slaughter houses and meat packing plants are in the same situation. Peoples jobs are on the line now because of a gas shortage?

truman
thing is why did ALL the CO2 suppliers all shut for maintenence at once? Oo A mix of lack of demand for other products produced in the process and high "ingredient" costs...
Top Cats Hat
The brewing process produces CO2 as a by-product. Enough to carbonate the final product plus a surplus. The need for the brewing industry to 'import' industrially produced gas is partly because of the desire for mass produced, gassy cold filtered beers and lagers that rely on low temperature and fizz to disguise the lack of taste in most of these products. Let's hope that the growing microbrewery sector steps up to the plate and tries to fill some of the gaps left by the majors.
