Lockdoctor
Two important points that you have missed out there. 1. The referendum was not mandatory. 2. Less than 50% of the electorate voted for either option. I think you should start taking drugs. 52% of the electorate voted for the UK to leave the EU. Cyclone
Because we have a responsibility to participate in the democratic process, not simply spectate and then whine when we don't agree with the democratic outcome! Aren't you arguing against any further democratic process... Like another referendum. You've got the result you want, and you'll be damned if you let further democracy change that result. truman
Because we have a responsibility to participate in the democratic process, not simply spectate and then whine when we don't agree with the democratic outcome! To be fair I would hazard a guess that a lot of leavers have died and a lot of people who would have voted remain but were unable to because of their age have become 18 in the past couple of years..do you think the Leave vote reflects the democratic view of the country now? You've got the result you want, and you'll be damned if you let further democracy change that result. Not at all. I haven't got the result I voted for, which is for the UK to leave the European Union. It hasn't happened yet. The wealthy and powerful may yet prevent it happening... Car Boot
Really? And there was me thinking that it was only 38% Well you're wrong. According to the BBC, the UK voted to leave the EU by 52% to 48%. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/politics/eu_referendum/results England voted to Leave by 53.4 per cent to 46.6 per cent. Lockdoctor
Where do you get that figure from 52% of voters voted for leaving. That should be the end of the story. Those who could not be bothered to vote, register to vote etc don't count. In the democratic EU referendum 52% is what matters.
